Hi, I’m Miranda Macdonald, the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate is the latest handset to join Rogers lineup. We know you’re excited about this device and we are too. So that’s why I’m here with Rogers Mike Nguyen to take a closer look at some of the device features.
MM: I Mike!
MN: Hi Miranda!
MM: So, the first thing I notice about this device is the screen. Can you tell us what make it unique?
MN: Yup, it’s got a four inch super AMOLED screen. So what that means is that it offers the best screen resolution and some of the biggest screen size that we’ve seen in market today. As you can see it’s about as thick as a pen so I can throw it in my jeans, throw it in my purse, it doesn’t really matter. It’s a really fashionable, sharp looking phone.
MM: For the social media enthusiast out there like myself, what kinds of things does this device have to offer?
MN: It’s got a great social hub feature so what that does is that pulls all your Twitter feeds, your Facebook updates into one stream. I could look here and see what all my friends are up to and who I follow on twitter. As well, I have a daily briefing app, which pulls together weather updates, stock updates and the latest news all in one location so it makes it really easy for me to keep up with what I want during the day.
MM: What about apps for this device?
MN: It’s an Android device so it’s got access to Android Market, so that means it’s got close to 100,000 apps today. So if you’re a gaming junkie like I am it’s got all your favorite games on the Android platform for you to play with. It’s also got a bigger screen (with a) higher resolution so the gaming experience is quite, quite good.
MM: So let’s talk about the memory for this device, how much does it have?
MN: The device comes with 16G of onboard memory as well as expandable external memory up to 32G, so all told you’ve got close to 48G of memory available
MM: So this is an Android phone, what is the upgrade path for this device?
MN: Samsung has confirmed to us that we will receive an upgrade path for this device in the first half of next year so that’s good news.
MM: Great! Well thanks a lot Mike! That’s just a quick look at the Samsung Galaxy S Captivate. If you have other ideas for video segments you’d like to see on RedBoard you can find me on Twitter. I’m @RogersMiranda
