Save the zombies: Let’s keep AMC on Rogers

You love zombies as much as we do. We’ve seen it in your e-mails, your tweets, and your Facebook posts. Some of your favourite shows (and ours!) are on AMC – shows like The Walking Dead, Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

You want to keep AMC on Rogers. And so do we.

In fact, we have been negotiating with AMC so we can keep bringing you these great shows.  These types of negotiations with our programming partners are routine. Our goal is to keep costs down for you and that means negotiating to get the best possible rates on the best programming.

But last night, AMC surprised us with a campaign that alarmed our customers with allegations that AMC was about to go dark on Rogers.

Let’s be clear: We have no intention of dropping AMC. Negotiations are ongoing and we expect to reach a positive outcome. Let’s hope AMC is as committed as we are to saving the zombies on Rogers.

Update March 1: Good news! Under a multi-year deal, Rogers customers will be getting AMC in HD by the end of March. Full details are here.

AMC just wants to scare your customers! By doing this they will complain to the cable company…making negotiations more in AMC’s favor. Thats just DIRTY!

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi John,

We were surprised that they would alarm our customers but we’ll continue negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

  2. Doreen Bradimore

Thanks so much for posting this I would hate to lose AMC it is one stations I watch most

  3. Is it safe to assume Rogers wants to put AMC in some kind of specialty package along the lines of SC & HBO? Is it safe to assume AMC wants to stay in a package they’re in now?

Anyway, Lets get AMC HD please.

  4. Chris hill

The fact that Rogers (and it isn’t AMC’s choice, it IS Rogers) forces you to purchase a bundle in order to receive AMC is the biggest sign that Rogers has no interest in reducing our costs. Their sole interest is to keep profits high while capitalizing on the knowledge that people WILL pay for good programming – even if forced to overpay for channels we don’t want. Make AMC an “a la carte” channel for $3-$5 per month and give the paying customers a CHOICE.

    1. Sean

Looks like AMC is the one in “control”, they just want more money on top of their huge ad revenues from their extended commercials. It’s all about money. Now they are using us viewers as a bargaining chip like they did with Dish. You can’t buy their shows right from them directly. What happens when they want even more money next time?

    2. Hinda

I totally agree with this, Rogers is simply passing the blame on AMC so that they can come back stating the channel is only availble in a specialty Package. Knowing full well that is one of their most watched channels. They have done the same with the BET channel, giving some bull sh*t line about the network only gave us permission to show it for free in certain areas. Please. If this channel is gone, it’s bye bye Rogers hello online tv

      1. RogersSarah

        Hi Hinda,

We’d hate to lose you as a customer!

As for BET, you can still access BET, it was not moved to another package. Rather, BET was moved from analog to digital. You’ll need a digital box or adapter in order to view it. You can find out how to get a digital adapter at no cost by visiting adapter.

  5. Mr Ideas

Yes. Shocking but make sure you do sign up again. That makes the difference as to whether your customers stay with you too…or switch to the provider that signs AMC. Make sure you sign them Rogers. Don’t play hardball too much!

  6. Tom

We want AMC and we want the HD channel. Is there any truth to the rumour that Bell controls the distribution rights. All we have ever heard from Rogers on this issue is – NO COMMENT!

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Tom,

We have been in negotiations with AMC and we expect to reach a positive outcome. These types of negotiations with our programming partners are a normal. HD is part of our negotiations.

  7. Patricia Rosendahl

    Please keep AMC !

  8. Rob Cameron

I enjoy watching AMC. Shows such as The Walking Dead, Hell on Wheels being my particular favourites. I also enjoy watching my favourite movies. In fact I’m hunting-and-pecking my way through this message during commercial breaks while watching Highlander. They have great shows and play awesome movies that alot of people enjoy. I hope that whomever makes the final choice, they consider the people who enjoy the programming that is put out by this outstanding network. In fact I am at a loss to explain why you’re considering no longer providing this station at all. Thank you for your time.

    Yours, Robert Cameron

    1. RogersElise

Hi Rob. Thank you for your comment. As mentioned in the blog post, we are committed keeping AMC on Rogers and are in negotiations with them. We want to keep the zombies alive and the mad advertisers on our network too :)

  9. Brammer

I have tolerated SD AMC for years. Dropping AMC completely would drive me to another TC provider. Keep AMC, make it HD, and make it a-lacarte.

    1. Winter

Seriously, SD is not that bad, maybe you don’t have the right TV or maybe check your TV setting.

  10. Dan Udey

I’ve spoken to people at other cable companies and they’ve said that channels (e.g. AMC, HGTV, A&E, etc, can specify what channels they have to be bundled with and which they can’t. Thus, assuming this applies to Rogers as well, Rogers has limited control over bundles and pricing within the bounds of their contract.

Please negotiate for the HD service too!!! this is a must as much of a must of being able to offer AMC

    1. RogersKeith

Stay tuned. We’d love to have some good news to announce about HD.

      1. reidjr

When should we hear if a deal is reached or not?

  12. Jeff

If AMC is removed from the programming choices at Rogers, I will seek another television services provider, even at additional cost to myself. In truth, I bundle all my services with Rogers, and would likely move everything to another bundled program.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Jeff,

Thanks for your feedback. We have been in negotiations with AMC and we expect to reach a positive outcome.

  13. Larran

I love this station and always have, even before the new shows. Please keep it available to your cable customers.

  14. Anne

If you guys are negotiating, you should get AMC HD!! Very disappointing that Rogers doesn’t have the HD version. Walking Dead is just not the same in SD!

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Anne,

As mentioned to others, we can confirm you that we have no intentions of dropping that channel and are negotiating in good faith. Also, HD is part of the negotiations.

  15. Paul Ostien

I also enjoy the programing on AMC. The picture quality of the feed on Rogers however, is very poor. Could this be delt with as well.

  16. J Flynn

Yea, but you are doing this at an increased cost to subscribers by putting AMC and TCM – the only 2 good channels- on to digital. Removing them from basic analogue service!
The extra cost of moving up from analogue to digital for the only few channels I originally got cable for, is the last straw. Time to turn it all off- save money- and go with broadcast digital off the air ( with an antennae) quality of HD signal is even better anyway… Oh and listening to radio again.
Holding customers ransom by moving AMC and TBS to digital and then trying to look like hero’s doesn’t help. Those already with digital will now need another digital box rental for extra TVs in other rooms if they want to watch from say the bedroom etc.
Again, the crap on analog basic cable package at Rogers is hardly worth the fee as it is- without TBC and AMC makes it even worse.
Get rid of some of the awful and offensive specialty channels on basic and replace them with better programming and overlooking losing TBS and AMC to digital fees may make staying with Rogers ppossible- but I don’t this will happen. So well be stuck watching shows about how five guys have given their most discussing blow job to other gays, or a weekend of second rate sitcoms or infomercials!

    1. RogersSarah

      Hi J,

You can get a digital adapter at no cost in order to access channels that are moved from analog to digital. You find out more about how by going to

  17. John M

If this is true it is a waste. Why would any provider let its clients get hooked on programs and then allow those programs to be pulled out from under us?

    1. RogersSarah

We have no intention of pulling the signal. We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

  18. Winter

I don’t know what with everyone’s obsession with AMC. I don’t watch that channel, I’m not even subscribe to it and have definitely no interest of having that channel, non of there shows are interesting.

And seriously people, STOP begging for HD. SD is not bad at all, SD actually look good. HD is so over-rated (at least for now).

    1. Matt

You must have the worst TV ever if you can’t see the huge difference between SD and HD, even on Roger’s highly compressed HD feed…

    2. Tom

Whether you watch AMC or not is irrelevant here. Lots of people do and they have the right to express their opinion that they want Rogers to keep the channel. As for HD being over-rated, it must be that you are watching HD from Rogers. Having just spent a month in Florida watching HD from Comcast, I was astonished at how good it was – nothing at all like we get from Rogers.

    3. Paul

Sd looks good?Hd is overrated? Sounds like you need a new TV

  19. Matt

Not only should you keep AMC but get a HD feed of it too please. I subscribe to AMC (and the package it is in) but I have to go out and download HD versions of Walking Dead, Breaking Bad and Mad Men because you SD feed of AMC looks like crap on HD tvs! What year are we in here?

    1. RogersSarah

      Thanks for your feedback, Matt.

  20. alph

I love AMC shows. They’re top quality. My solution?
    Let it go dark.
AMC is counting on customer pressure to force your hand. What you should do is tell AMC advertisers that a whole country full of their customers is going away. Let’s see who blinks first.

  21. Julia

Keep AMC and in the line up its in. Making it an add on in a pkg at extra cost would lead me to not renew my contracts.

  22. Rapture

I got an email today from AMC saying Rogers is threatening to take the channel away. Now I come on these boards and Rogers representative saying they are committed to negotiate to keep the channel. I do not like to be pulled in either direction of these negotiations.

I feel Rogers has missed out dearly by not providing it’s Digital HD subscribers with the means of watching AMC shows in HD for years. One only needs to perform a search on Google with “Rogers AMC HD” to see how far back people have been asking to have AMC HD as part of the lineup. I have no idea how much negotiation is necessary to get the HD feed but I would encourage striking a deal on this versus proverbially planting your feet in the ground opt to loose the channel entirely.

If what I read here is true and Rogers is really committed to negotiate or re-negotiate, whatever the case may be, AMC as part of their lineup then they should also negotiate to bring AMG HD and even perhaps get an AMC On Demand channel going as part of the lineup.

    1. RogersSarah

Thank you for your feedback, Rapture.

  23. cheyenne

DO NOT DO NOT get rid of amc . come on whats wrong with ya. :(

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Cheyenne,

Nothing’s wrong :) If you read our post, you’ll see that we have no intentions of dropping AMC. It was their decision to bring negotiations to the public place but we’re working on it in good faith to continue providing the best TV and entertainment experience to customers.

  24. ryan

good…get rid of amc on Rogers.
like hell im going to fall for this marketing ploy.

beg for it and there will be a fee.

so remove it…and the sensible people will continue to exercise other options outside of Robbers.

  25. John

    AMC and in HD, now!

I find it insulting as a customer that we have been asking about AMCHD for years now but Rogers communicates nothing. Please explain why we haven’t had it why why we can’t in the future.

I’m outta here too if AMCHD doesn’t come soon. Any anyone who can’t understand the HD issue doesn’t know what HD is.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi John,

We have no intentions of dropping that channel and are negotiating in good faith. Also, HD is part of our negotiations.

  26. E young

Please keep Amc on the air

    1. RogersNicolas

Thanks for sharing! We have no intentions of pulling AMC.

  27. Amanda

I’d be okay with paying extra on my bill to keep AMC – especially if I could get it in HD.

    1. RogersSarah

      Thanks for your feedback, Amanda.

  28. Lorne Goldman

please keep amc. this might be some test to see if customers like the channel, or something like that, but please please please just keep it the way it is. thats all i ask

    1. RogersSarah

      Hi Lorne,

We have no intention of pulling the signal. We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

      1. reidjr

Do you really think a deal will be reached?

      2. RogersSarah

We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

    2. RogersSarah

We have no intention of pulling the signal, Lorne. We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

  29. Chucky

I will say one thing, I recently hooked up to Rogers thinking that they had AMC HD, as it was indicated everywhere I looked that it was part of their packages. Get the install done, and what? No AMC HD anywhere to be found on Rogers! If AMC HD is not a Rogers channel soon, I will be leaving to go to a provider that has it. Please do not think of asking for one more penny for it either, I have the package that includes it, still have that brochure and web page saved. I’m not watching 80’s video quality and paying 2013 rates!

    1. RogersSarah

Thanks for your feedback, Chucky. Stay tuned!

  30. Zach Burtch

I completely agree, although I would love to see AMC in HD on Rogers. Its a sore point for me!

  31. Please don’t lose AMC the original progamming is a high spot in an otherwise dismal lineup of eternal cops and lawyers :( if Rogers loses it , i will really think seriously of quitting with Rogers after 50 years !!

    1. RogersSarah

We wouldn’t want to see that, Rose! We have no intention of pulling the signal. We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

  32. Steve Taylor

Now how about providing your long standing customers with AMC HD. It’s laughable to think such a big “player” forces it’s customers to watch top rated AMC shows in SD. What year is Rogers stuck in?

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Steve,

Thanks for your feedback. We’re currently negotiation in good faith to keep AMC, and bring HD to customers.

  33. Ryan

Rogers – get with the times. You are offering a big name channel like AMC to Canadians in standard definition, and you won’t even pay them enough to keep that inferior quality feed. Do you have more than half a brain?

Honestly, if it is announced that AMC is leaving or that we don’t get AMC in HD like Bell, I am cancelling my TV services with you.

And you will never ever get me back as a client. Guaranteed.

    1. RogersSarah

We’d hate to see you go, Ryan. Thanks for your feedback on HD. Stay tuned!

  34. jeremy

WHAT THE HELL AMC IS ONE OF THE ONLY CHANNELS I WATCH!!! If I miss out on the walking dead because of “negotiations” between two corporations than I just might disconnect my cable and kill my tv!!!!!!

    1. RogersSarah

We wouldn’t want that, Jeremy! We love The Walking Dead, too! We have no intention of pulling the signal. We are still negotiating in good faith and expect a positive outcome.

  35. Darren

Why does Rogers not have AMC in HD? I can’t even watch the walking dead because it is SD, a way that the show is not meant to be watched. Once the new season of Mad Men starts, I will jump over to Bell (where they have AMC in HD).

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Darren,

We are negotiating in good faith to keep AMC, and we’re also working on bringing HD to customers.

  36. Kevin

If I lose AMC it will be time to say good-bye to Rogers Cable service.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Kevin,

Let’s hope it doesn’t happen! We have no intentions of dropping AMC and are negotiating in good faith.

  37. Susan Lauzon

Maybe AMC should remember what it owes to its viewers and not just the advertisers and having the biggest bottem line ever. This is a time we are all tighting our belts, remember and act accordinly.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Susan,

Thanks for reading our post and sharing your thoughts!

  38. Dan

I’m in favour of keeping AMC. I look forward to The Walking Dead every week. If it gets dropped I will move to the other major digital cable provider in order to get it (where it is offered in HD, I might add).

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Dan,

      Thanks for your feedback!

  39. Rhonda

I hope you’ve got a senior, effective negotiator working on it. Someone who will be successful in getting the contract signed. If you loose AMC I will looking for another service provider.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Rhonda,

Thanks for your feedback! We’re indeed negotiating in good faith and have no intentions of dropping AMC.

  40. Mark

Whether it’s AMC trying to scare everyone or not, no AMC, means I will consider going to another provider.

Sorry Rogers, but the fact is that my bills keep increasing, and now the potential to lose a channel and miss a show that I REALLY enjoy is getting annoying. Rogers doesn’t even have AMC in HD which is disappointing enough, and now to lose the channel completely? What’s next to go?

Rogers, get your act together, and strike a deal with AMC, money is money, and maybe they are hosing you, but are you prepared to lose all sorts of customers? I have been a rogers customer since I got my first cell phone as a teenager, and now being married, and having 4 services with you, I can tell you that I am tired enough of the continuously crappy service that has occurred between us in the past couple years. You used to be a decent company! It’s sad that a tv channel will be the final straw that breaks the camel’s back!

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Mark,

Thanks for sharing your feedback and for your fidelity.

We’re still negotiating in good faith, as we mentioned to others, and have no intentions of dropping it. We’ll keep everyone posted as soon as there’s any news on that end. Also as a FYI, HD is part of the negotiations.

  41. Ken

If Rogers comes back with plain standard def. AMC but increased prices, I think I’d rather just order the series I watch through iTunes and get rid of the AMC channel package. Has anyone actually priced out AMC’s most-watched shows on iTunes and Blu-ray versus Rogers’ bundle?

  42. Andy

AMC putting the pressure on Rogers by their “losing the channel” tactics is pretty low. Rogers should keep the channel but not at extra cost, we have just had another $1.50/month increase with no additional channels or services, and as long as the CRCT are run by ex-Rogers and Bell executives not investigating the price fixing by the two Canadian powerhouses, we will continue to see this type of unjustified gouging. Expect to see more and more customers leaving for online content.

  43. Matt

It’s not the best approach for amc to leverage Rogers customers in the negotiation process, however this is just a catalyst for Rogers customers to finally say what’s on their minds.

Poor customer service, high prices and intermittent service interruptions are some of the factors that are causing discontent among the Rogers customer community. We hope you take these messages very seriously as the only reason I am a Rogers customer is because the lack of choice in other cable providers.

Amc is evidently a great and popular channel. Failing to offer your customer base this programming is like a grocery store not selling milk or eggs. How else can we help you understand how important amc programming and providing better customer service is important to us, your customers.

Here’s hoping Rogers makes a decision based on what’s right for the customer and not the bottom line.

    1. RogersSarah

Thank you for your feedback, Matt. We’re always here to listen to our customers.

      1. reidjr

Has a deal been reached yet?

      2. RogersSarah

Yes, we announced tonight that we’ll be launching AMC in HD by the end of March! You can read our updated RedBoard post here.

  44. katja kennedy

If Rogers puts AMC in a package that makes me pay more will be getting rid of Rogers
Already pay enough to Rogers and am loyal Rogers client

    1. RogersSarah

W announced tonight that we’ll be launching AMC in HD by the end of March! You can read our updated RedBoard post here.

  45. Will

Any update on the negotiations? I need to make a decision on whether or not to drop my cable subscription and return the ridiculous “Rogers Only Digital Adapter”.

Other providers are only a phone call or mall visit away and I don’t want to miss Walking Dead this weekend. I’ll be very disappointed in dropping Rogers just because they can’t work with AMC and the success that organization has had recently.

If you want to save money then squeeze out those horrible networks like ABC/NBC/CBS/etc. I hardly if ever watch these but their still appear to be you’re bread and butter.

    1. RogersSarah

      Hi Will,

We just announced tonight we’ll be getting AMC in HD by the end of March! You can read our latest post here.

  46. vsmith1026

Rogers are criminals for their rates that get higher every other month or very frequently throughout the year. I just switched down to extended basic and canceled the movie channels since all the programs were so old or low rated movies ridiculous. I know I know why am I still with them? I hate Bell’s cable product/guide etc. It’s horrible. Oh well we are prisoners of the cable companies aren’t we?

  47. vsmith1026

I almost had a fit when I saw that AMC may be turned off of Rogers! Thank goodness I came to this website today and saw all the good news! Whew! Thank you for the good news!

  48. Ryan O

Is this where we vote or make a complain about losing AMC. Would really love it to stay as well in HD, but would still love it the same just on regular cable. Where can we complain if not here? Thanks

  49. Alexandra

please please do not drop amc, it is such an amazing and festive tv channel and it is much different from others, it has amazing movies and me and my family will definitely drop rogers if you decide to take AMC away! we will no longer pay for you because amc is one of our favourites, especially we’re BIG fans of the Walking Dead. We’re being dead serious, instead of putting bull-crap on tv, keep AMC seriously do not take it off, we’re sure a lot of other people like it too, there fore please keep it. Thankyou.

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Alexandra,

We shared news about this last Friday. As we’ve always wanted to, AMC will NOT be dropped and we’re also bringing the HD version.

  50. Desiree

SO I Just went to check AMC AND PEACHTREE and to my surprise they were both gone nothing but a bunch of fuzz, Rogers is a HORRIBLE COMPANY and do nothing but LIE AND STEAL any chance they get, They make you think they are doing everything they can to help us keep these channels but they never had any intention, they way it goes is if you dont make enough money to buy all these “Specials” boxes and packages you treated like crap and stolen from. Just like any deposit you put down on a phone your suppose to get it back in a year instead if your bill is not even due they take it upon them selves to put it on your bill they dont care if you need the money. It just happend to me and I spoke to a supervisior a week before who said we would have the refund back in my bank account… didnt happen

    1. RogersNicolas

      Hi Desiree,

Both channels are still available. Do you have a digital adapter? We’ve been upgrading current analog channels to digital. More info here: You can get an adapter for free an continue viewing these channels.

Also, sorry to hear about your issue. Feel free to reach out to us on our Facebook page or Twitter @RogersHelps. Our team will assist you!

  51. steve

i really hope this doesnt go down, then how will i watch all my fav shows?

  52. Theresa

And this is why I’ve been a Happy Rogers customer for almost 18 years. Thank you for your ongoing negotiations with AMC.

    1. RogersNicolas

Thanks for your feedback, Theresa! It’s making our day.

  53. amy lynn redfox

Save the zombies we love amc theres not enough good shows on winters here and tv is all we have.
