Samsung Now the World’s No. 1 Handset Maker

Mashable wrote about a new study from Strategy Analytics stating this week stating that Samsung’s market share is now 25%, with a $4.5 billion profit in its most-recent quarter, nearly doubling last year’s figures and estimates. This adds up to an estimated 93.5 million handsets sold in the first quarter alone!

We can certainly see what all the hype is about. We’ve got a stellar lineup of Samsung devices that include the Samsung Galaxy Note, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and the Samsung Rugby 2. Samsung even has you covered if you’re in the market for a tablet – the Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 LTE comes equipped with an 8.9” screen, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, and high-def video capture and display.

Head on over to your nearest Rogers retailer and check out our lineup of Samsung devices in-store or online now. What’s your favourite Rogers Samsung device?

  1. If you can only afford the newest and greatest based on the subsidized price, then you should not be doing this. Save up enough $ and then go online by the unlocked ones. If you can’t afford it, then don’t buy it.

Cell phone subsidy is just bad here. Does your cable company subsidize your TV? I don’t think so. You buy your TV outright. Getting a subsidized phone is like borrow money from Rogers and consider the over priced plan Rogers is offering, that is like you are paying over 50%+ interest!

You may as well as buy it outright from your credit card and the banks only charge you 19.99% interest!

  2. In the US, Goggle is selling it Galaxy Nexus for $399.99 outright, why is Rogers selling it for $600 outright?

Considering the Canadian $ is worth more than than US$ by almost 2 cents, the outright price in Canada should be roughly $392.

  3. I’ve been a BB fan for years now…but I got to play with a Samsung Galaxy Note a few weeks back – and I think I’m in love. With ICS coming to it soon, it will be even better.

Hard to believe I may leave BB – but this unit may do it…

I had the same dilemma with different brands a couple of years ago. Nobody can blame you for liking the Galaxy Note ;)
