See your voicemail: Introducing Rogers Visual Voicemail Plus
Sometimes I just can’t pick up a phone call. There are countless scenarios where answering my phone is not an option, like when I’m in a meeting, at the movies, have my hands full of groceries or when my friend is in the middle of recounting a really important story that requires my full, undivided attention. Once you miss a call, you can’t always call into your voicemail mailbox right away to see what the person had to say, even if you’re extremely eager to find out.
Today Rogers launched Visual Voicemail Plus, included in new Rogers Value Packs. It’s another first from Rogers and it’s available for most phones. What’s great about Visual Voicemail Plus is that not only do you get the audio file pushed to your phone but the message is transcribed to text and sent with the audio file as an attachment in a single message. This means you no longer need to dial into your voicemail inbox, enter your password, and listen to all the prompts – your audio message and transcription is just a click away. One of the other key benefits is that you see the list of your voice messages and can directly access the one you want, rather than having to listen to each one in order they were left.
Visual Voicemail Plus is available for select BlackBerry and Android devices and is managed via an application, as well as available on other smartphones and mobile phones that support MMS (picture/video) messages with messages delivered via MMS.
How to get Visual Voicemail Plus
Contact Rogers to subscribe to the service. BlackBerry and Android users can download the Visual Voicemail Plus app from Rogers Mobile Internet Portal or the Android Market. For these apps, everything is synchronized between your device and traditional voicemail mailbox. This means that if you delete or view a message in the app, it will be deleted or marked as Saved in your voicemail mailbox. For mobile phones that support MMS, you just need to set up your voicemail to get started and messages will be saved on your traditional voicemail mailbox once they have been delivered to your phone via MMS.
Get your home phone voicemail sent to you your mobile
Visual Voicemail Plus also allows voicemail messages to be forwarded as MMS messages from your Rogers Home Phone. Just log into the voicemail online portal and click on the “message to MMS” tab.
Get your voicemail on your computer
If you’re already using the recently launched Rogers One Number service, you’ll be glad to hear that you can now integrate Visual Voicemail Plus via MMS on your computer too.
Do you have a memorable voice message that you continue to keep saved? Care to share?
UPDATE (February 29, 2012, 10:50 a.m): If you’re looking for a little more information on Visual Voicemail Plus, just head over to www.rogers.com/visualvoicemailplus

The way I read this originally was that the VVM would be a $9 add on on top of regular voicemail. Looks like I was incorrect.
That said, I can’t access value packs on MyRogers to change my pack to include this.
Hi TLS2000,
Have you tried accessing them here: http://www.rogers.com/valuepacks? You can then select a Value Pack and sign in with your Rogers account.
How about some Windows Phone love for visual voicemail?
Hey Gordon,
Windows has love : ) you can use the Visual Voicemail via MMS service, you’ll still get the transcription and audio file of the voicemail, but through MMS, so the difference is that there isn’t an app to manage everything.
Hope this clarifies,
Kaili
That’s good to know. Windows Phone has Visual Voicemail support baked into the core OS. I would be cool if Rogers would work with Microsoft to leverage that.
Do i need a MMS pakage to have Visual Voicemail via MMS ?
Hi Enzo,
Visual Voicemail Plus MMS messages are zero-rated and don’t count against your data plan.
Zero rated against my data plan but what about mms? I don’t have a mms addon so will every voicemail count as an mms I’m receiving?
When will this be available for Galaxy Note or Galaxy Nexus? I would love to replace my Google Voice with this!
Hi Telfer,
They aren’t supported by the application right now for VVM but they are for the MMS service.
Also, rest assured that we’ll continue adding more devices soon.
is it normal that it say the app is incompatible with my GS2 LTE?
Hi Patrick,
This device isn’t supported by the app at that time for VVM. However, it is for the MMS service.
We’ll be adding more devices soon!
Thanks, RogersNicolas! Just a tip — you need to do more work to educate the Rogers staff about VisualVoiceMail Plus!
I called Tech Support last night, and they said sorry — it’s ONLY available for iPhone. I argued, and they transferred me to customer service.
Customer service said they have no idea what VVM+ is, and had to look it up, and said the only thing they could do was tell me to visit a page at http://www.rogers.com/visualvoicemail…. and that page doesn’t exist.
Customer service and tech support both apologized and said there was nothing they could do to help me because they had NO info at all on their screen.
I know this is new, and I really REALLY appreciate the service! But I just thought you should know that someone, somewhere has dropped the information ball.
I’m sorry for that. As you pointed out, it’s not the quality of service that you can expect from us and I’ll share your feedback with our teams.
For future, don’t hesitate to reach out to our Social Media team on Twitter @RogersHelps or Facebook.
Hey There,
I have tried to call you guys and ask if it is supported by the Blackberry Bold 9900 and as per your site it isn’t, is there a reason why? or is there some way I can try to download and install the app?
Thanks
Corey
I’d like to second Corey’s comment. when trying to download the app to my bold 9900 I get an error: “907 Invalid COD”.
Thanks.
Hi Aaryn and Core,
At this time, the BB 9900 isn’t supported by the app but the MMS service does work with it.
We’re looking into bringing more devices soon.
where can this app be found?
To quote the article: BlackBerry and Android users can download the Visual Voicemail Plus app from Rogers Mobile Internet Portal or the Android Market.
Let me know if you have any other questions!
When will this be available for the Galaxy Nexus ? I have the app.. just doesn’t work.
The app on the Android Market states explicitly that this app only supports th Sony Ericsson X10 or the Samsung Galaxy Q.
You might have wanted to mention that in your announcement.
speaking of visual voice mail since the mango update WP7 has supported VV natively how do you setit up on there?
TIP for ROGERS – Don’t roll out services or claims if it’s not fully ready or true.
Just switched from iPhone to an Android. I was told that your new Visual Voicemail was compatible with the Android phone I got, the only thing I had to do was change my Value package to one that included the new Visual Voicemail. It would cost me an extra 79cents.
When I got home and attempted to set up the VM I got a message from the software saying it wasn’t compatible with my phone… this was after calling customer care and going over the set-up and them assuring me that it would work. I then called back and spoke to Tech Support, they informed me that the phone I had was not compatible.
When I called back customer cares to switch back to my old value pack they told me that I couldn’t get my value pack back because it wasn’t offered anymore.
Suffice to say I’m sorely Teed off. Another example of Rogers not communicating with each other internally (honestly I don’t know how a business functions like this).
Hi raazan,
I’m afraid there’s been a miscommunications regarding the Visual Voicemail. This service is available and compatible with your Android phone if you’re using the service via MMS.
However, the app isn’t compatible with all devices at that time but we’ll be adding more soon.
after you get this in the MMS version, and you download it to play it, where does it store on your phone that you could delete it?
i have an HTC raider.
thanks!
