Any idea when you will be getting them in cyan? Black is boring.

    • RogersNicolas says: April 10th, 2012 a 4:00pm

      Hi Paul,

We don’t comment on releases that may/may not launch but we’ll definitely keep everyone posted of our latest news – including new models.

      • Nicolas, I know you have to respect the corporate policy on unannounced products, but I think it would be better to simply say that there are no plans to have it now. Customers may be holding on their purchase for that specific reason, and your vague answer does not help making a decision!

        • RogersNicolas says: April 11th, 2012 a 11:44am

Thanks for your insights. I totally understand your point when you say that it’d be better to give a “no” rather than a “wait and see” but that would not necessarily be accurate. For instance, we started carrying the white version of the Samsung Galaxy Note this week but wouldn’t comment on it until an official announcement. As much as we value transparency towards our customers, there are questions that we simply can’t deny or confirm for many reasons. This said, we’re always listening and reviewing our products and services based on customer feedback.

        • Paul Edwards says: April 11th, 2012 a 11:50am

I am with you 100% Gabriel. I have been looking forward to this phone for a long time, and it is really disappointing that AT&T has it in black and cyan at launch, but us Canadians can only get it in black. The cyan version is what really makes this phone stand out in a crowd, along with the cyan accessories Nokia is selling. I guess I will head across the border and get one and unlock it for use with my current provider.

          • MrCottrellable says: April 11th, 2012 a 5:11pm

I with you Paul and Gabriel, cyan all the way. I guess I will just have to pick one up in the states. This is just another reason to leave Rogers, the only reason why I am with Rogers is because they annoyed me the least. It didn’t take long for them to gain equal footing with bell and telus.

  2. I was really looking forward to switching to Rogers for the lumia900,but I don’t want it in black.i guess i’ll have to get the white or Cyan from AT&T or the international version and just stick to my current carrier.
You said you’ll release more details on that at lunch!where they at?

  3. Has the winner of the Pre-Order been selected?

    • Rogers_Chris says: April 11th, 2012 a 5:58pm

The draw will be completed shortly however we don’t publically announce the winner due to privacy issues and they will contacted privately.

  4. How can you possibly launch a phone as amazing as the Nokia Lumia 900, the first LTE phone in Canada, and not have Visual Voicemail Support? Is there an ETA when this will be available? This is a killer feature that is available on Windows Phone, it’s just not supported on Rogers.

I have an unlocked Nokia Lumia 800, and it works fantastic with visual voicemail on AT&T. The Rogers Visual Voicemall with MMS is terrible compared to the functionality that is baked into the operating system.

    ETA please?

    • Rogers_Chris says: April 11th, 2012 a 6:01pm

We currently do not support Windows devices by means of a dedicated application. Customers are encouraged to use the MMS version of the application.

      • The lack of colour choice and visual voicemail, along with the (thus far) limited in-store exposure indicates that Rogers is investing the minimum possible to ensure the success of the Lumia 900 in Canada.

        • Well put. If this is the case then Rogers shouldn’t complain that Windows Phones aren’t selling well if they are doing nothing to promote it

      • It’s sad that Rogers is basically giving the Windows Phone no chance to be successful in Canada. You don’t even have a “Windows Phone” plan. I have to use an iPhone plan. You don’t allow tethering when you do let iPhones do it. You don’t allow Visual Voicemail.

I’m surprised the government isn’t suing Rogers and Apple for Anti-Competitive behaviour. This is ridiculous.

  5. 2 things I’ve noticed:

1 – The multi-coloured squares in Lumia’s dashboard is very attractive, as seen in your video review. However the images on Rogers’ website shows only red squares. Is this a Rogers edit to the phone or just used in promotional materials? If it is an edit to the phone’s software, will we be able to customize it if we choose the Windows default colour scheme.

2 – This device has been advertised to include turn-by-turn gps navigation software. I don’t see mention of this anywhere in the Rogers’ promotional materials (on Rogers’ website) — is the software still on the device or was it removed for a Rogers release?

    Thanks!

    • MrCottrellable says: April 11th, 2012 a 5:05pm

      Hi ejafus

1 – You can change the tile background colour of tiles that use the user selected theme colour under settings. Not all apps use it though (e.g., facebook, netflix).

As for point two, they shouldn’t have remove that app, it is a selling feature of a Nokia phone. But sadly because they do not carry the cyan version I decided not to pick up one from Rogers.

    • Rogers_Chris says: April 11th, 2012 a 6:01pm

      1. The colour scheme can be customized.
      2. Nokia Drive is pre-loaded on the device.

  6. Hi, Thanks for releasing Lumia 900. I have pre-ordered and bought it first thing on Monday morning !!!.. Now its really sad that none of the CSR/TechSupport are aware of this phone. I called them to set up Visual Voice mail and no help. I called them to check my LTE Settings and no help again. Can some one help me ? bttw the phone is awesome !!!!

  7. This appeared in the Toronto Star today — http://www.thestar.com/business/article/1159515–nokia-s-u-s-ambitions-hit-by-smartphone-bug?bn=1

I picked up my Lumia 900 on Monday. Will Rogers also be giving the $100 bill credit for this as AT&T is? I should hope so or I won’t be very happy.

    Please advise.

    • Rogers_Chris says: April 13th, 2012 a 3:18pm

      Hi Paul,

Yes. Anyone in Canada who has already purchased the Lumia 900 or purchases it from now until April 21st, will be getting a $100 credit on their Rogers bill. The updated software will come to Zune around April 16th.

      • Hi Rogers_Chris,

Does this include people who buy it month-to month for $475?

        Thanks!

        • Rogers_Chris says: April 13th, 2012 a 4:31pm

Hi Anthony, unfortunately this credit will not be available to device sale or month-to-month customers.

      • Hi, I called Rogers and they don’t know anything about this $100 credit. How would we be able to get this credit applied to our bills?

        • Rogers_Chris says: April 15th, 2012 a 11:03am

Any Rogers customer who activated a Nokia Lumia 900, new customer or HUP, by 11:59pm April 21st, 2012 will receive a $100 bill credit on their 1st or 2nd invoice after the activation. No further action is required.

          • Rogers_Chris; you are incorrect. I have spoken with numerous Rogers reps (phone and in store) and they have confirmed this $100 credit is good for anyone who bought the device prior to April 21st. New customer, HUP, Month to Month or purchased at full price. The fact of the matter is that the device is still broken regardless of how it was purchased and that is why the credit is being offered from Nokia to the Carriers and in turn to their customers. From what i’ve been told the credit is automatic, they system will check to see if the phone was activated on the BAN prior to April 21st and apply the credit.

          • Rogers_Chris says: April 15th, 2012 a 2:14pm

That would be nice, Tyson, but as of right now the store and phone reps you’ve spoken to are incorrect. Here is the info they should have shared:

“Any Rogers customer who activated a Nokia Lumia 900, new customer or HUP, by 11:59pm April 21st, 2012 will receive a $100 bill credit on their 1st or 2nd invoice after the activation. No further action is required by store staff or the customer. Please note: This credit will not be available to device sale or month-to-month customers.”

Let us know how it turns out.

          • I’m pretty sure Rogers reps in OOP are not incorrect. If what you are stating is true, Rogers is penalizing its customers for paying full price for a device and not signing a contract. Nokia is offering the credit, not Rogers. If Rogers does not relay this credit to customers who purchased the device month to month or at full retail price then they are being completely contradictory to what Nokia has stated.
            http://conversations.nokia.com/2012/04/13/lumia-900-excitement-continues-to-build/
And I quote “Customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything we do here at Nokia and, as a limited gesture, Nokia will automatically give any Nokia Lumia 900 customer a $100 credit on their AT&T or Rogers bill.”
I’ve also spoken with Nokia about this and they have confirmed what I have stated.

          • Hey Chris, your comment was correct. I have attached your comment below. This was the same answer I was given by the employees at the store. However, this knowledge is not widely known at Rogers. Only a few people seem to know about it.

          • I did omit one detail; partly because I was playing around on the Lumia. You must activate the IMEI on your account and be under a contract with Rogers in order to receive the credit. Wherein, lets say you’re not eligible for a HUP so you buy buy the phone at full price and activate it on your Rogers account, and you still have 2 years left (this is my scenario) then the credit will be applied to the BAN through Vision…. AT&T is doing the same thing in the States via the same process. Of course if you buy the phone outright and you don’t have a plan with either carrier or any sort of commitment to them the credit not applicable.

  8. I’m also holding out for a Lumia 900 in white.. is there anywhere to give feedback to Rogers for customers who want a color other than black? Perhaps if a lot of customers are requesting it, it might make purchasing decisions easier for Rogers

  9. Guys also please support MMS and Visual Voicemail !!! .. Called Rogers twice and they said Sorry its not supported !!!!

    • Rogers_Chris says: April 11th, 2012 a 6:02pm

As mentioned in reply to another post, we currently do not support Windows devices by means of a dedicated application. Customers are encouraged to use the MMS version of the application.

  10. I have the lumia900 in my hands and using it. I’ve been a windows phone user since the original release.

1 – Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive etc… are pre-installed. Downloadable pre-cached maps of entire world – this is amazing. I’ve download most of the north eastern USA for road trips already.

2 – Internet sharing – This doesn’t work. I spent 60 minutes on the phone with NOKIA Canada and Rogers. I have tethering on my account, but every time I try and turn it on the phone said it’s currently not allowed. This is highly frustrating. I waited for a Mango enabled Windows Phone on Rogers with tethering to finally use my upgrade credit. If this doesn’t get fixed in next few days phone is going back until Rogers gets the act together.

The lack of being capable of provisioning ANY device, let alone one of the first LTE capable devices in Canada with internet tethering is a serious oversight. Please advise if a fix is coming, otherwise this phone is going back and i might be moving to telus and the Lumia800 which telus has promised an update with tethering shortly.

  11. I picked up the Lumia 900 as a hardware upgrade from my Samsung Focus and so far it has been great with one exception. Internet Sharing (WiFi tethering) does not work on the 900 when it worked fine on my Focus with the same data plan. Many of other Lumia owners are having the same issue, although it seems to be working for those who have LTE data plans and not for those who have non-LTE plans.

Seeing as I live in an area with no LTE reception I would obviously prefer to not pay for an LTE plan that I can’t really take advantage of. Is this something that Rogers can fix from there end or do we need to wait for Nokia/Microsoft to push a software/firmware update to address this? Rogers support suggested a hardware reset on the device (which I did), but that unfortunately did not fix the issue.

  12. http://www.wpcentral.com/nokia-lumia-900-sales-still-going-strong

“We’ve received several tips that the cyan Lumia 900 is completely sold out at various AT&T Retail Stores.”

“Even Paul Roth, AT&T’s President of Retail Sales and Service, in a WSJ.com interview recognized the sales of the Lumia 900 has exceeded AT&T’s expectations and that some AT&T stores had sold out of the Windows Phone, particularly the cyan model.”

“And it’s not only the devices that appear to be selling well. Nokia accessories are becoming harder to find. For example, the cyan case for the Lumia 900 is listed as “Out of Stock” over at AT&T’s website. Sounds like blue is the color of choice for a lot of Windows Phone users.”

So yeah Rogers, think about getting some cyan Lumia 900′s please!

    • RogersNicolas says: April 13th, 2012 a 9:37am

      Hi Paul,

Thanks for interest. While we don’t comment on releases that may/may not launch, rest assured that we’re always reviewing our products and services based on customer feedback.

      • MrCottrellable says: April 13th, 2012 a 6:04pm

If Rogers actually listen to customers or bothered to ask what they wanted then the cyan would have been available on launch day. Why bother having this forum if you are not willing to engage in honest conversation.

        • MrCottrellable says: April 13th, 2012 a 6:13pm

Look at Nokia, it discovered a problem with its software that caused data connections to be dropped. Was open and honest about it to customers, told them right away, gave a timeline for the fix, and went an extra mile by even offering a credit. Rogers can learn a lot about how to interact with customers from them.

  13. Hello,

I wonder if Rogers is planning to sell other colors of this phone. He won the award for best phone at CES 2012. The blue, magenta and white are very beautiful but Rogers decided to sell only the black model although AT&T has decided to sell three colors (Black, Blue and White). Rogers stores do not seem to be aware of this model, very bad publicity compared to A &T (our cousins in the south). My wife and I planned to change to your company to go with a family plan with Rogers phone; not anymore. We are buying our phone in the U.S. and stay with our current company. Judging by your service and marketing, how can you sell the window mobile phone to your customers or attrack new customer with bad decision making?

Saying that ” …customer feedback is important….” is not a good answer.Yes (approx. release dates) or No are good answer for the availability for the other colors

  14. Hi,

I picked up my Lumia 900 yesterday at Rogers Plus. I switched my data plan to LTE and am not having connectivity issues (April 18). When I was on 3G I had no data connectivity issues. I thought the fix was going to arrive on April 16. But when I connect my phone to my PC, there is no Zune update. Can you tell me how to get the fix?

    Thanks,
    Maneesh

    • … sorry, I meant to say “I am NOW having connectivity issues”

    • RogersNicolas says: April 19th, 2012 a 10:40am

      Hi Maneesh,

The update is coming soon. We’ll keep everyone posted as soon as it is available. Hang in there!

    • Hi Maneesh,

The 16th was the date for AT&T’s connectivity fix issue.

Here is the official statement from Nokia about the fix for Rogers…

      http://www.nokia.com/ca-en/lumia900update/

      • Thanks for the update. It seems the Lumia community is more up-to-date than Rogers :s

I have the Black version, but was really hoping for the Blue one. Hopefully someone on Kijiji will trade with me.

      • MrCottrellable says: April 19th, 2012 a 12:34pm

        Hi Tyson,

Sadly carriers have to approve updates before they are released which delays important fixes. Apple is the company that did it right by removing carriers from the equation. Carriers like rogers are just dumb pipes but refuse to recognize it and create these artificial barriers to pretend to be important.

        • That’s actually the process Rogers is currently going through with Nokia; hence the delay.
While I’m not very optimistic about the release date they’ve stated I still remain hopeful. From personal experience in retail in general and life, its almost always easier to point fingers then to take blame which is what usually happens when it comes down to these things.

          • MrCottrellable says: April 21st, 2012 a 2:17pm

I am not pointing blame, just stating a fact that the carrier approval process is generally crap. I can understand carriers wanting to test out updates first because they tend to be the first line of service. But this process can add months even years in some cases, to never releasing important updates. Most of the time doing nothing, or worse adding crapware to the update. Overall compared to other carriers around the world Rogers is not too bad, not as fast as some of the European carriers, but way better than companies like AT&T in the US.

  15. CyanAtt disappointed says: April 21st, 2012 a 9:28am

Hey guys I bought an AT&T cyan lumia 900 and USA and this far there is NO lumia 900 in USA that has been unlocked

Codes are not available anywhere and AT&T is refusing to unlock phones

  16. Is anyone else having problems with tethering? I unlocked it to bell and can’t get tethering to work…the update hasn’t come out on Rogers yet either

Does anyone have tethering problems on rogers or any other carrier? It says “internet sharing not currently supported”

I was thinking I need to put a rogers LTE sim in and activate it (similar to blackberry service books)…I tried it with an iphone sim and nothing happened

  17. I really wanted this phone. Problem is I am leaving Canada for a year in about one years time. I did not want to commit to a 3-year term in order to get the reduced price because Rogers policy is apparently that you cannot place a plan on hold, so I would be required to keep paying my bill while gone.

I asked about 1 year terms to get even a bit of subsidy on this phone and take additional advantage of the Nokia 100$ rebate offer. According to Rogers website the 1-year term price for this phone is $475. However, when I called Rogers the “support” person I spoke to told me that there was no 1-yr term benefit on my hardware upgrade (current term past 18 months).

Based on what I have investigated since that time regarding Nokia’s policy is that I was basically lied to by Rogers. Now the April 21st deadline has passed.

What is even more infuriating is that with no surcharges on cell phones and parity of the US dollar that Rogers would decide to sell the phone no contract for $75 more than AT&T in the US. I am tired of Rogers screwing Canadians.

When I return from the US in 2014 I can assure you my family and I will be clean of all Rogers contracts and will shop around for services. I’m tired of this company.

    • RogersNicolas says: April 25th, 2012 a 10:08am

      Hi David,

Sorry to read that. It appears you received some confusing information and I apologize for that.
For future, please do not hesitate to reach out to us via Twitter or Facebook. Our Customer Support team will assist you with any inquiry.

  18. I don’t know if I should wait until the Cyan arrives, or just bite the build and buy the ugly black.

Will Rogers offer any kind of exchange program for people who purchased black but want to swap to the Cyan? I want to give you my money but I need more information!

    • RogersNicolas says: April 27th, 2012 a 2:42pm

      Hi Daniel,

We can hardly speculate on future plans that may/may not launch but, based on previous devices, it is unlikely.
Our return policy is up to 15 days.

  19. When will Rogers get the Lumia 900 in cyan or white?
I’m holding out until the cyan is available.

    • It’s been long enough now, that it is beginning to become doubtful as to whether Rogers is even allowed to sell colours other than black. They have Canadian exclusivity, but could very well only be for a period, like 30 or 45 days. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Telus step in and offer the 900 in Cyan, White, and Magenta.

    • Nokia sells a cyan-coloured skin that has such a thin profile that it should make the black model look near-indistinguishable from the actual cyan model. I purchased one from a RogersPlus store and my phone will be delivered next week I’ll let you know how it looks.

As for Rogers carrying the cyan model itself– to be honest, I`m surprised that they`re even carrying the Lumia900. While it was very popular in the U.S., it has been my perception that Rogers is not big on taking risks with phone models and almost never gets a model that is cool or unique…. cyan is both of these things, and WindowsPhone is still a gamble in their eyes.

    • …got the phone,
put the cyan skin on… not sure if it is exactly the same colour, but looks good. Maybe not 100% as good as the cyan version, but pretty good.

      =======
FYI – the phone and internet reception on this phone is unparallelled… I have been waiting for 20 years for a phone that has so few reception issues — works as good or better in all areas I’ve tested it so far to the Blackberry Bold 9900 both in the city and at the cottage, and callers say that the voice quality is a heck of a lot better.

      • Paul Edwards says: May 2nd, 2012 a 2:18pm

Thanks for the heads up. Unfortunately I don’t want to spend $500+, or lock into a 3 year contract, for a phone that I have to put a case just to get the colour I want.

I’m sure it looks alright with a cyan case, but if I am spending that much money I don’t want to add bulk to the phone or make it harder to get in and out of my pocket.

It’s almost as if Rogers doesn’t want our money.

        • you’re welcome; I understand — for me it works as this way i get the best of both worlds (for office situations and for personal flair) …and i get the phone sooner.

  20. Is there any chance that Rogers will be supporting the native Mango visual voicemail anytime in the near future?

    • Rogers_Kelly says: May 1st, 2012 a 11:04am

      Hi Maneesh,
We currently do not support Windows devices by means of a dedicated application. Customers are encouraged to use the MMS version of the application.
