When you think of Canadians who possess ultimate speed and strength, which athletes come to mind? From sports to technology, Canadians are passionate about high speeds. Whether it’s a skilled serve on the court or a swift slide into home base, or the rate it takes to download your favourite song – the faster the speed, the better. Rather than merely telling you how blazing fast our Internet is, we challenged our intense Internet speeds against two Canadian sports icons: tennis star Milos Raonic and Blue Jays third baseman Brett Lawrie. These famous Canadian athletes, respectively known for their fast serve and sprint between bases, have never gone up against an opponent like the Rogers Ultimate Internet. They were both eager to step up to the plate.
Tennis Pro Milos Raonic: For Milos’ challenge, we set up a tennis court in a Toronto warehouse, with a “play” button target at one end. We challenged Milos to serve the ball and hit the target to play a song, faster than we could download it using Rogers Ultimate Internet. Let’s not forget Milos is well known for his powerful serve, reaching 250 km/hr. He has also served more aces than any other player so far in 2012. Does Rogers Ultimate Internet have a chance against a champion like Milos?
Toronto Blue Jay Brett Lawrie: Brett is notable for his intensity and speed on the field. For Brett’s challenge, we set up at the Rogers Centre and rigged second base with a “play” button target. We challenged Brett to run from first base to the second base target to play a music video, faster than we could download it using Rogers Ultimate Internet. Can Rogers Ultimate Internet beat a Blue Jay?
Ultimate Internet: Rogers offers download speeds of up to 75 Mbps – the fastest available in the most homes. We recently launched superfast download speeds of up to 150 Mbps, currently available to a quarter of our Internet customers, and we’re continuing to expand this high speed coverage at a rapid rate.
How did Milos and Brett fare against Rogers Ultimate Internet? You’ll have to check out the above videos to find out.
