    I can only assume we will be able to get this phone sometime summer of 2013, right?

      Actually, they’re not going to make us wait as long as usual.

      The on-sale being widely reported today is June 20th, which appears to be official. Samsung has posted it on their Facebook page, so it seems pretty solid.

      Some carriers have publicly acknowledged the 20th as well and Rogers will likely follow suit, but they have a really annoying habit of being coy about release dates, so don’t expect anything official out of them until the day before the launch- they don’t believe in advance notice, apparently.

      In their minds, you’re just supposed to drop everything and run out to buy one of these phones at a moment’s notice.

      At any rate, the Rogers version of the S3 should be available in about three weeks.

    Gee Rogers, I’m happy that you’re getting the next new hot phone from Samsung, but frankly I’m more concerned with when I’m going to get the current version of Android (4.04) on the Galaxy Nexus that I bought from you less than six months ago.

    Snapdragon? This better be a quad-core phone. The One X was originally a quad-core.

    Leave it to Rogers to dumb down ANOTHER phone. But it’ll have URMusic on it!

      Nope its Dual. No LTE phones are Quad because they don’t support it (yet).
      Same thing with HTC, North America providers are pushing their “faster, better LTE network” and not focusing on the hardware at hand. All the latest models with Quad-core (internaltional version) phones are not bought/shipped to N-A.

      We will have to buy them overseas or wait if they ever come.

    Well, new phone same issue.. Rogers LTE! When will Rogers actually buy phones for the hardware specs rather then trying to inflate their pockets by pushing us to buy LTE.

      Rogers always extends the upgrade policy right before major handset releases. That way you pay more money for your upgrade.

      If you picked up your Captivate when it was launched, you’ll remember they pulled the exact same stunt two months before it hit shelves too.

      It’s not coincidence. They expect you to use a device for 3+ years that only lasts for 2. And you can’t even get software for it anymore it’s so obsolete.

      It’s all a ripoff.

      a year and a half into my 3 year contract and i got a free upgrade to the s3 from the captivate.

        Well, then you’re one of the lucky ones. I’ve heard many a Rogers customer lamenting the fact that the retentions department seems to not be all that interested in actually retaining customers these days. It’s very much hit or miss when trying to get an upgrade out of retentions.

    To all those above who are displeased with the fact that this phone will have the Snapdragon S4 dual core chip: have you seen the benchmarks? It’s pretty much just as good as the Exynos quad core. ALSO: we are getting 2GB of RAM. That amount will make this handset run that much smoother.

    I’m biting the bullet and paying the early upgrade fee to get this phone. Call me crazy.

    North American version won’t be quad core it’s not Rogers at fault simply the fact that LTE radio is larger in size and works with snap dragon one reason why I went for the OneX a) no waiting b) Sweet Phone.

      I was looking at the One X but it let me down:
      a) no MicroSD card slot and only 16GB storage
      b) no removable battery
      c) 1GB RAM
      d) the back of the phone is porous… good luck getting the stains out (see One X in blue jeans video on YouTube OUCH!)

      I am happy to hear the phone is good for you though =)

    Well the S4 version will likely come out on top anyhow with battery life and power since it is based on the A15 instead of the older A9. Even if it was at par the fact that we get LTE speeds is worth it im sure :) Now we just need 64gb microsd cards so i dont have to kill my data plan to watch movies

    I’ve preordered mine and switching for an iPhone 4. I was ready to upgrade last year in the hopes than new iPhone would have larger screen but nothing happened. Now I see the thte iPhone 5 will only have a 4″ screen which is really sad. I hate to wave good buy to iOS on my phone (love my new iPad though) but I feel that Android 4 does everything that I need and covers just about everything that iOS does.

    Hi Rogers Reps,

    I was called a few weeks ago to early renew my contract (I was just over 2 years in)… The offer included price protection and an early hardware upgrade promotion.
    I was told by the reps that I would be able to get the Galaxy S3 at the 3 year contact rate when it was released… however, the rogers employees at the local store said I “might not be eligeble for the Galaxy 3 OR the Galaxy Note”.

    Could you please clarify this new promotion and/or let me know if there is any reason I would be eligeble for any phone except a chosen few?

    I want to get rid of my iPhone 4 ASAP; but I don’t want to pay an extra $220 or so for early upgrade.

    In short, I only extended my contract because I was told I would get a hardware upgrade (for the G3), and if the store staff is correct and I can’t get it, I would reneg on my contract extension and shop other carries.

    PS. My plan is $100 per month (retention package with 6G date and unlimited) if that would make a difference.

    What exactly will be the policy for hardware upgrades? Do existing customers get to have Samsung galaxy s3 or is it only for new customers? Please clarify Rogers Reps.

        Yes Ryan, I read the article but I do not understand why I have to pay $40 for reservation. If I do reserve it after paying$40.00 does that guarantee I will get a phone or is there going to be another issue after this?

        You *will* get a phone guaranteed if you reserve one online. But I’m pretty sure you’re not guaranteed WHEN you’ll get one. Might be on launch day, might be weeks after. Depends how much stock the reservation system gets (they get a separate stock allocation from retail stores and the online store, if memory serves). Basically, the reservation system serves as a way to guarantee that you’ll get a phone (eventually) without having to call up multiple retail stores and find out who has it in stock, etc etc.

    Reservation is a joke, Rogers charges $40 just to reserve? Really? There is no mentioned of how much S3 is going to cost as well. If there is no price than I can only assume that 16GB and 32GB models cost exactly the same, and there is no charge to upgrade, NOT!

      Actually, that $40 is a deposit, to make sure you are serious about getting the device, and it gets credited towards your purchase. Which you would know if you clicked that big red question mark right next to the reservation fee on the Reservations page.

      But yes, it *would* be nice if Rogers showed what your total cost to upgrade would be. You can check your upgrade fees from the My Account page though, and I presume you pay the 3 year contract price the same as everybody else.

      The $40 is refunded to you on your next bill after the phone is in your hands. The $40 is basically the “You’d better really want this phone” temporary fee.

      Another details is obscure if Canadian S3 comes with Quad or Dual processor, if it’s Dual it’s not as attractive as Quad.

        Pretty sure it’s dual core. As far as I’m aware, there are no quad core chips supporting LTE in production phones yet. And realistically? You’re not going to miss the quad core.

    Can someone from Rogers explain why Best Buy (and other retailers) have published the Rogers 3 year contract price for the phone but Rogers themselves have not. Can we upgrade to the S3 in Best Buy or does this need to be done with Rogers.
