Stumped for holiday gift ideas? We’ve got you covered

BlackBerry 9790 from Rogers

Just announced by RIM today, the much buzzed about BlackBerry Bold 9790 is coming to Rogers- just in time for the holiday gift-giving season!  The combination of the high resolution touch display and improved keyboard makes it a much-desired device to be unwrapped this season.

Even though we have all year to seek out the perfect presents, somehow the holidays always creep up on us, leaving no time to spare. If you’re like me, this time is usually characterized by a handful of rushed, last minute dashes to the store, with scribbled lists in hand.

If a BlackBerry is on someone’s wish list this year, we can help. Here are the details of the newest BlackBerry smartphone:

  • The BlackBerry Bold 9790 runs on the latest BlackBerry 7 operating system making it powerful, yet compact (perfect stocking stuffer size!). The BlackBerry 7 OS is the fastest, most powerful browser for a BlackBerry to date, which means 40% faster loading than the earlier version
  • It also has a 1 GHz processor. This means faster access to apps, web browsing, games and more.
  • The Liquid Graphics Processing Technology displays crisper graphics so that holiday treat on your screen will appear even more scrumptious.

Blend in your BlackBerry with the snowy scenery

If you’re looking for a lighter finish, good news, the BlackBerry Curve 9360 and the BlackBerry Bold 9900 will be available from Rogers in pure white.

Packed with social apps, the fun and stylish BlackBerry Curve 9360 keeps you connected with your crew. The pre-loaded social apps and latest messaging and social networking tools make it even simpler to stay social. Whether it’s planning that last minute winter escape or sharing your shopping deals, everyone’s in the loop.

The 5.0MP camera and 720p HD video recording capability on the BlackBerry Bold 9900 means an impromptu marshmallow roasting session or impressive event on the slopes can be recorded and shared instantaneously. Finding endless moments to record on your device? The 8GB on-board memory will help in that department.

Looking for a gift free of charge?

Owning a BlackBerry just got better. Until December 31, 2011, RIM is offering tons of premium apps worth a total value of more than $100. You’ll find them free of charge on BlackBerry App World.

Another great gift idea

  3. UMA capable?

  6. When is a release date for BB bold 9900 white?

  7. Wow Blackberry launching the same phones over and over and over and over and over and over and over again. No wonder they are doing so bad.

    • lol John…. I love jokesters like you who don’t even know what they are talking about. You are on a ROGERS forum… which is CANADIAN. Guess who owns the market in CANADA… Blackberry lol

      learn your facts before speaking

      • Doesn’t change the fact that the functionality of a blackberry back in 2007 has the same functionality as a blackberry in 2011.

Better yet… older blackberry models have UMA capabilities. RIM may still have the Corporate World in its palms, but that’s slipping very fast. More and more people are picking up Androids and iPhones.

Their days are numbers.. doesn’t help that there’s a huge BIS outage every two months either.

      • What does that have to do with anything? Sounds like you’re the one who doesn’t know what they’re talking about.

Canadian or not, RIM is behind every other smartphone manufacturer in terms of hardware and features. The keyboards are nice, but the OS is essentially a better looking version of what was loaded on my Blackberry Curve in 2007.

Maybe you should think before making a totally irrelevant and unrelated comment on somebody’s post.

  8. Blackberry Bold 9900 White is in the house :)
    thank you Rogers :D

  9. Is this phone coming out before the month ends at least?

  10. I’m guessing this will come out early December, do you guys have an estimate on when it’s coming in December, at least beginning for sure? Dec 1 -10

  11. How come the Samsung Galaxy S2 LTE is $99.99 @ Best Buy on a 3-year term and $179.99 @ Rogers? I am an existing customer and eligible for a HUP but $179 is way too high!

    • Hi Warren, if you’re eligible for a HUP then you can get it at a retail store like Best Buy. We don’t set their prices, though.

      • Thanks for the clarification! Now I can finally make my way down to Best Buy and upgrade my dying Bold 9700.

      • *Update*
Just got back from Futureshop and was refused the price the store offered (which is $19.99 btw). The Futureshop CSR was more interested in trying to sell me their price protection plan than do the actual hardware upgrade! He contacted Rogers and they tried to sell me the phone for $169.49 after tax. I refused and walked out! What a waste of time!

  12. Hi Rogers_Chris,

I’m in search of information regarding the “@rogersbuzz” twitter posting that states the playbook is now on sale for $199/299/399 at Rogers Plus locations. In addition to this, the tweet provides a link to a $20 off coupon, basically making the 16GB playbook price $179.

I have called Rogers and spoken to a CSR who denied the fact that the playbook is $199-399 now. She even went far enough to say not to trust the rogers twitter postings because they are not authorized by Rogers (how can I argue with that stupidity?).

Anyway, I’m curious as to how to go about securing a playbook for this $199-399 price point through either Rogers wireless or Rogers plus stores. Thanks.

      Hey Adrian,

Thanks for this feedback. I can assure you that RogersBuzz is an official Rogers twitter account.

As for the rebate, can you print out the page with the $20 bar code and take it in to a rep?
