    Hi,
I reserved this phone and was just wondering if you has an estimate of when reservations would be shipping? TIA!

      Hey lawfirm_fan42,

Check your online status as that will be the best indication of when you can expect your device to ship.

  2. Is the bootloader unlockable on the Rogers version?

  3. Hey, will a T-mobile unlocked phone work with Rogers 3G?

    • RogersMelanie says: November 7th, 2011 a 3:38pm

      Hey Suri,

Best to speak with a rep about this sort of detail.

    • no.. t-mobile uses different 3G bands than Rogers.. you will be able to use EDGE data, but not 3G. At least that was the case 2 years ago when i bought a Bold off Ebay and had to return it.

  4. Just picked mine up, downtown Toronto. What a beautiful machine, and I still can’t get over the ergonomics and dimensions! No phone is perfect, but this one just hits the right notes

Wait… People are picking them up from the stores? What about people like me who pre-ordered the device… Shouldn’t devices get shipped to our stores first? Am I missing something here?

    • Chris Silcock says: November 7th, 2011 a 4:16pm

Ah – answered my own question:

“We will be dedicating inventory towards our Reservation System orders and our goal is to get your device to you as soon as possible. However, we will also be shipping devices to stores that are not participating in the Reservation System program.”

      Somewhat lame… Oh well.

      • wow.. it’s weird that they would ship to those stores first instead of shipping to consumers that go through the trouble of reserving phone. great brand management

        • Chris Silcock says: November 8th, 2011 a 11:33am

Yeah, I managed to find one at a nearby mall, and will be getting my $40 back from the pre-order… Remind me not to use that stupid system again.

  6. Even though I loved my last pre-smartphone Motorola, I don’t think I will be getting the new Razr.

  7. Why not LTE, version, of DROID RAZR, like Verizon in U.S.
I so much wanted to buy this phone, but stil wil have to uupgrade for LTE version. making me dissapointed.

  8. Verison US has an LTE version. Will Rogers be getting one?

  9. The reservation system is designed to take away the hassle of going from store to store to locate a device, and to make the process more convenient to your location and schedule. No one that reserves an iPhone gets it before the people who wait in line overnight for it that’s an unrealistic expectation, but by reserving the device you’re guaranteeing you are not an individual left in the cold without a device after having waited in line. I reserved the Razr, but I decided I didn’t want to wait so I did the leg work and fortunately it paid off. I’m quite unimpressed by the number of individuals upset that they haven’t gotten the best of both worlds- either put in the work to get the device sooner, or be patient and quite whining. This should be a forum for discussing the merits of the phone, and not your inability to appreciate that you can’t necessarily have your cake and eat it too.

    • Chris Silcock says: November 9th, 2011 a 2:14pm

Well, I certainly do like cake.

On a serious note: I completely agree with you. It’s just frustrating that they didn’t even send a message out to people who put $40 down and used the system to say “your device is now released and should be shipping to a store soon”. Either way, I did the legwork and managed to get one day 1 as well. So happy I did – this phone is absolutely amazing!

  10. yes, Chris I do agree it.s unfortunate that the level of communication isn’t higher for those who plunk down 40 bones but it isn’t a fee that’s non-refundable so you may get what you pay for.

It is an awesome phone though! I’ve now had every generation of RAZR created and i’m excited to see the same philosophy of cutting edge designs (bahaha) stunning materials and amazed looks from colleagues

  11. Does the Rogers Razr come with 16gb or 8gb Internal. The site says 16gb but I’m hearing 8gb from the forums

    • It should be as listed on Rogers.com, Tim.

    • It’s 16gb!

      • I hate the deceptive marketing…

There’s only 8Gb of storage that’s actually reserved for the user’s media. the other 8Gb is reserved for application installation and OS. Either that, or it’s not 16Gb, my device is showing 8Gb of available memory with no content on it.

  12. Why not LTE, version, of DROID RAZR, like Verizon in U.S.
I so much wanted to buy this phone, but later on will have to again spend money for LTE and NFC device, is dissapoinment..

  13. It’s all a matter of perspective, if you ask me. Yes, it’s 16GB, and yes only 8GB of that is available to end user storage, however:
    - 4GB dedicated to app install and 4 GB for OS often means less lag and fragmenting due to efficient compartmentalization
    - expandable memory through SD card, so your $50 rebate can likely buy you a class 10 32GB memory card on Ebay
    - MOTOcast allows you to stream directly from home computer meaning you have access to more than the limited storage on your phone (assuming you have a decent data plan)

    • Hey Watsan,

To confirm, the 16GB is actually broken down into three categories.

8GB of user memory – for pictures, videos, music and stuff like that
3.7GB of user application memory – for applications that you download to your device
4.3GB of system memory – this is for the operating system, carrier applications, pre-loaded media

      Hope this helps clarify.

  14. I’ve had this gorgeous device now for a couple Weeks and am very happy, I must say. Can’t wait to see ICS flex it’s muscle on it. Question for any other owners, after nearly 10 full battery cycle drains and charges I’m still getting barely over 7 hours of light daily usage. Any thoughts on this our did I maybe get a bad battery?

  15. Seriously Rogers, why did you not get the LTE version? You are trumpeting your LTE network up the wazoo, and you have a chance to get a cutting edge LTE device, and you choose a more useless version. Epic fail. The mind boggles. I have chosen to not buy this phone just for that reason.
