Nokia asks: What would you film in one minute?

Could you film a compelling video in one minute using only your smartphone? That was the task for a group of Vancouver based film makers in the N8 Direct and Project competition held by Nokia earlier this month. Film makers were given a Nokia N8 smartphone and instructed to create a one-minute movie on any topic they’d like. The Nokia N8, available exclusively from Rogers, launched in November and has the ability to record high-definition video in 720p resolution with Dolby Digital Plus surround sound.

While the overall winner was chosen at the event, you can help select the runner-ups by viewing and voting on your favourite videos on Nokia’s YouTube channel. The second and third place will be decided based on “views” multiplied by “likes.” The online competition will close on Thursday, February 3 and the second and third place winners will be announced on Nokia’s Twitter and Facebook page.

Here is the winning video, described as a “film that explores what happens when mundane activities take on an unusual rhythm.”

  1. Nokia should actually concentrate on making a phone people actually want.
