Found: your missing smartphone
You know the feeling. That moment of panic when you realize you can’t find your phone. Where did I last have it? What if someone took it? Whether it is at a restaurant, in a cab or at home, I seem to forget my phone on a weekly basis. And I’m not alone in this either. Our research indicates that 31% of Rogers customers lose or misplace their phone at least once per year. The forgetful can now rest easier with the Rogers Phone Finder, an exclusive new service for Rogers customers that helps you locate your lost or misplaced phone.
This service is compatible with all Rogers mobile phones as long as your phone is powered on, connected to the Rogers network and you have registered for this service. As part of our Handset Protection Guarantee Program, your first 5 lookups per month are free. For any additional lookups per month you will be charged $0.20/per lookup and the charges will appear on your Rogers bill.
Here’s how to get set up:
Register in advance
All you have to do is go to www.RogersPhoneFinder.com on a PC, tablet or smartphone, review the terms and conditions, and register your mobile number. Once you register, you will receive a text message on your mobile phone. You must reply “Allow” to complete your registration. Once you have registered, you will be able to use the service.
Start locating
If you have misplaced your phone, sign in to www.RogersPhoneFinder.com and a Google map interface will open up. To the left of the screen you will see your phone number and a button “Locate my phone.” Just select the button and click “OK” to confirm that you wish to find your phone’s location. When your phone is located a pop-up window will be displayed, click “OK”. Your phone’s approximate address and location will come up on the Google map in your browser.
Have you ever lost your phone? Were you able to find it?

can this be used with any phone or does it have to be a smartphone with GPS?
Hi Alex,
All handsets using a Rogers SIM can be located. The service does not support finding tablets or Rocket™ sticks.

As an iphone user who has been able to use the Apple Iphone FIND YOUR IPHONE version, I have always been disappointed by it for the many times i have tested it while at home, it NEVER once showed my place but a house 2 streets over from me. I put that down to cement buildings possibly getting in the way but yet i just saw this ad, signed up and although it took about 7 seconds longer than the apple service, it pinpointed it exactly!
Nice! Glad you like the new service! :)
I may be misunderstanding, but this sounds like once registered, ANYONE who knows your cell phone number can go to that site and find your current location. I’m going to assume that there must be some sort of user validation before the phone’s location is revealed, so can you please clarify things?
Hi David,
Only the registered member of the mobile phone can find the location. Currently, the service does not support multiple phone numbers on one account/email address at this time. To register you’re required to validate your email and your phone via SMS opt-in.

Set it up yesterday and works quite well. I have also been recommending it to my customers as well. I will be quite disappointed with disgruntled customers because without this, its not like they have any other reliable/free options.
can I (as a mom and owner of our family’s contract) register MULTIPLE phone numbers on one e-mail address so ALL my kids can find their phone and not just the most forgetful one of the three?
I suppose this is great news for dumb phone owners, but almost every smartphone has this built in or is easily added on with an app. IPhone, HTC and Samsung phones (and tablet) already have this built in.
Any ideas if something like this is also available for Fido customers?
Fido customers are able to use this service through Rogers.
Great idea! Unfortunately, I tested it out and it gave me an address (including an apartment unit number) which was quite far away from where I live. Certainly more than the 634 +/- metres that is says at the top of the screen. I live near Bathurst and Wilson, and it found my phone on the east side of Yonge, near Sheppard and Bayview. Usually takes me about a half hour or more to travel from my place to that location, using local transit.
I hope the service improves. Right now, it would seem that Apple’s “Find My iPhone” service is much better – I just tried it, and it pinpointed my device precisely. (Kind of weird, when you think about it, as I presume it’s using Rogers’ towers to triangulate it.)
I forgot the email address registered for my wireless number , Is there anyway that this registration will expire eventually so that I can re-register my device? Thanks.
Hey Rachelle, If you successfully registered, there is a link below the sign in page to retrieve your email. Let me know how you make out.
Hey
i was wondering if i lost my phone and wanted to add the lost/stolen restriction on my account would the Rogers finder still work since my phone will still connect to Rogers but just can’t have any activity on it ?
