Rogers Super Sports Pak: Every NFL snap in HD plus hockey, basketball and more
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
You see, not only is my favourite sports team – the Buffalo Bills – playing down the street here in Toronto tonight, but the pre-season game also means week one of the 2010 NFL season is just around the corner.
I love NFL football: bus trips, fantasy football pools and the buzzing of non-stop alerts pushed to my smartphone. Each Sunday through February is blocked off to watch the pre-game shows, the early and late games — and, yes, sometimes Sunday and Monday Night Football.
If you’re like me – or you have a sports-fan in your life that resembles the above – put down that Fantasy Draft Guide and listen up. Rogers has a way for you to not only stay on top of every NFL snap but also every second of your favourite hockey, basketball, baseball and NASCAR teams through our Super Sports Pak.
What’s great about the Super Sports Pak? Whether you’re a fan of a certain team or the Rams’ rookie quarterback, Rogers Cable customers can get the out-of-market games from across North America that you simply wouldn’t have access to unless you were living in, say, Dallas, Green Bay or Indianapolis.
The 2-minute drill
For $29.95 a month, the Super Sports Pak gets you:
- NFL Sunday Ticket, this year broadcasting every NFL game in HD – that’s up to 13 games every Sunday. (At this time, HD for every game is available for Ontario customers only).
- More than 3,000 hockey, baseball and basketball games from venues across the continent through NHL Centre Ice, MLB Extra Innings, NBA League Pass and OHL Action Pak.
- NASCAR Hotpass. In-depth race coverage including access to exclusive views with in-car cameras, unedited communications between drivers and crew, as well as the speed and horsepower during races.
- US College Football. Catch your favourite teams such as Alabama, Texas, Florida, Boise State, Ohio State, TCU, Iowa, Penn State and so much more.
- Premium Canadian Soccer League and select Major League Soccer games.
Rogers 2010 Rookies
In addition to the Super Sports Pak, we’re also excited to tell you about some new additions to our NFL lineup this year, including:
- NFL Sunday Ticket Online. If you subscribe to the Super Sports Pak or just NFL Sunday Ticket you can also watch every game live on your computer at NFL.com for a one-time fee of $30.
- NFL RedZone. Poolies rejoice! This new channel gives you live coverage of every touchdown from every game, plus highlights and stats all on one channel, for a one-time cost of $49. This also gives you online access to RedZone via Rogers On Demand Online (online access available in October).
- NFL Network online. Not near a TV? Not a problem. Watch the NFL network 24-hours a day on Rogers on Demand Online at no additional cost to Rogers Digital Cable subscribers (available in October).
Grab a beer and your remote: it’s game time
To order the Super Sports Pak, visit rogers.com/football select the Quick Start menu’s GET MORE TV option or call us at 1-888-ROGERS-1.
So, are you ready for some football? What’s your favourite way to watch sports?
Richard Bloom is a regular contributor to RedBoard.
Update (September 23, 1:20 p.m.): Good news football fans and fantasy poolies! Digital Cable customers can watch a free preview of NFL RedZone this Sunday, September 26th, on Ch. 440. If you’re in Ontario, it will also be available in HD on Ch. 498.

Will NFL Sunday Ticket Online, NFL RedZone or NFL Network online be part of the Rogers on demand iPhone app ?
Hi Pete,
At this time, those channels are not available via our Rogers on Demand Mobile app.
thanks for your question!
Richard.
Does NHL Center Ice still block local games? Sometimes the home team games are only available in SD or are only available in french or CBC doesn’t show them at all. So in those cases I’d go to NHL center ice.. Well sad to say the games would be blacked out. The only reason I’d get center ice would be to see these games in glorious HD.
Will there be local blackouts?
Hey Chris,
For details on Centre Ice’s blackouts, check out this link on NHL.com: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=27197
Richard.
I just signed up for the super sports pack.I am interested in the red zone how and when can i order this channel.
Hey Jay
RedZone will be ready for week 1 of the NFL season. Right now you can order that channel by calling us at 1-888-ROGERS1. Soon, you’ll be able to order via the GET MORE TV function on your TV.
Cheers,
Richard.
super sports pack is good but why not let users purchase just the NHL pack, or the NFL pack I don’t want ALL the sports I just want the NHL. And why not let users buy just one NHL game or whatever sport they like? pay like 1.99 per game?
Hey Genesis,
Good news! You can purchase NHL Centre Ice on its own — just give our Customer Care centre a call at 1-888-ROGERS1. For your second question, unfortunately you can’t order programming on a game by game basis at this time.
Richard.
Will NHL Center Ice online (through nhl.com) also be offered? For the last 3 years it has been through Rogers, and I use it all the time as I travel frequently.
It’s offered with the purchase of Center Ice in the US, as well as through Bell.
Hi Shammy,
At this time, we don’t have anything to announce with regards to accessing NHL Centre Ice online.
Cheers,
Richard.
Please include NHL GameCenter LIVE as part of the Center Ice package! Really important to me due to my travel schedule. It’s the reason I switched to Rogers 3 years ago as the others didn’t offer it. Please let me know if there is anyone else I can contact that may influence this decision.
Cheers!
Can one watch replays on sunday ticket on-line. Hole game replays? If so sign me up.
Hey Patrick,
At this time, NFL Sunday Ticket Online is for live games only.
Richard.
How many NHL games a night will be broadcasted in HD for the center ice package?
Hey Sid,
Good news: While we don’t have a specific number for you, we do expect to carry the vast majority of NHL games in HD this season as part of Centre Ice and the Super Sports Pak.
Only a few more weeks until the start of the season. I can’t wait… :)
Richard.
Hi Richard,
I have heard from friends of mine that both Shaw and Telus are offering most (if not all) NHL games in HD on their Centre Ice package this season. I hope Rogers will do the same for the SSP
How are you able to offer this for the upcoming season whereas you were not able to in past years? Also, will increased HD coverage also be available for NBA League Pass as well? Thank you for the information provided….cheers!!
Hi Dennis,
While we don’t have a specific number for you, we’ll be working diligently to offer as much NBA in HD as possible. When we receive the feeds in HD, we intend to make them available to you.
Richard.
Hi Richard,
When do you think the HD schedule for NHL Centre Ice will be known for the upcoming season? As well, will viewers in the Toronto area be able to receive Ottawa Senators games on Centre Ice package in HD? In past years viewers in Toronto and this region of Ontario never got the games and I do not understand why?
Thanks
Hey Dennis,
I’m looking into your first question as to when we’ll have visibility into the entire season’s HD calendar. I post a response here shortly.
With regards to watching the Sens in Toronto, there are certain blackout rules that apply for the Centre Ice package. You can see them here: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=27197
Cheers,
Richard.
When and how do you sign up for nfl sunday ticket online.
Hi jt.
We’re working on it and expect it be up and running shortly via Rogers.com.
Richard.
Will games on the Big 10 Network be available as part of the Super Sports Pak??
Hi JBwingz,
The Big 10 Network is not part of the Pak. To get this channel, you’ll need to order it separately.
Cheers,
Richard.
…thanks, but that’s not quite what I was asking…..I see now that I didn’t quite word my question properly….I realize that the Big 10 channel is not part of the Pak, I was kind of wondering, like when an Edmonton Oilers game is being shown on Sportsnet West and blacked out in my area, the fact that I had the Pak lifted the blackout and I could watch it. So I was wondering, similarly if the Big 10 channel is blacked out, since I don’t subscribe to it, when there is an NCAA Football game being shown there, will the game be available to Pak subscribers??
I’m not sure if the same rules apply in Canada, but in the USA there are no blackouts on the Big Ten Network as they are the only official broadcaster of the games nationwide.
Hi JBwingz,
Thanks again for your question. If you dont get the Big 10 network, there will likely be Big 10 conference games you will miss. The NCAA programming in the Super Sports Pak does carry Big 10 games — but only those *not* offered live on the Big 10 network.
Richard.
Will WGN be blackouted for the 1 NFL game? this year?
Will WGN NHL games be mirrored on WGN HD and NHL CI HD?
Hi Joe12345,
I take it you’re a big Chicago fan? ;)
At this time, we can’t say if the football game on WGN will be blacked out as blackout rules apply for local markets when a game isn’t sold out. Check out this link on NFL.com for more information. http://www.nfl.com/help/faq
A similar policy apples for NHL games. Here’s a link: http://www.nhl.com/ice/page.htm?id=27197
Richard.
Cheers,
Am I able to order the Redzone channel & Sunday ticket online yet? I called into to order both services and the customer service rep & was told I can’t order yet. When will I be able to order?
Hey Jason,
Sorry for the delay. While you can’t order it online yet, you can order it right now via our Customer Care Centre at 1-888-ROGERS1.
Cheers,
Richard.
Hi. Nobody at customer service has heard of red zone or knows when it will availabe. Will it be in hd? Why do i have to pay an extra 50 for it if ik already paying for super sports? All the us carriers include it with sunday ticket. Ever bell os throwing it in their nfl package. I just wasted an hour on the phone w rogers…..again. Nobody can tell me anything!
Similar to NHL Centre Ice online…the others offer this with their package, but for some reason Rogers isn’t revealing whether they are or not. It’s one thing to not offer a service, but it’s another to remain ambiguous about whether or not you will. I travel and need this service badly as Rogers has provided this for the last 3 years.
Frustrating.
Hey Shammy.
Good news! I can confirm that NHL Centre Ice Online will be included via NHL.com with either the Super Sports Pak or NHL Centre Ice — exactly as it was last year.
Only a few more weeks to go until the puck drops. Enjoy!
Richard.
That’s AWESOME news. Quick question – how can we get the code which will give us access? Last year the operators that I called in to were completely clueless and I didn’t get a code sent to me until late-November. I acknowledge that this is a specialty request that the overwhelming of customers won’t be calling in about, so would appreciate if you could point me in the right direction.
Thanks Richard.
ps. this forum has been extremely effective in answering my query. …and I’ve been a LONG time Rogers customer. Well done!!
Hi Shammy,
I’ll reach out to you via email should I be able to assist.
Cheers,
Richard.
Hi Mike,
While I can’t comment on what our competition is doing, I can tell you that at this time the channel is not in HD but we’re currently working on offering it in HD.
Also, I’m going to reach out to you directly via email to learn more about your recent experience.
Richard.
Hi Richard,
I was wondering if you had any update on the number of games that will be available on NHL Centre ICe on Rogers in HD this upcoming season? Will we have any pre-season games on the Centre Ice package and will some (most or all) of these games be in HD as well?
Another question: As with the NFL Sunday Ticket, will you be able to broadcast more than 4 NHL games at once in HD this season? (has your capacity for HD increased lately?)
Thanks again for your response
Dennis
Dennis,
Happy to help. Here are some answers to your questions:
We don’t have specific broadcast schedules to share just yet, but expect to have something to share closer to the start of the season. (I can confirm we will have more HD games available this year than last). What’s more, we will be carrying pre-season games, but again don’t have a full broadcast schedule yet.
For your NFL question, we have indeed increased our HD programming and will be able to carry more than four games at once.
Hope that helps!
Richard.
Hi Richard,
In an earlier post, you listed that a vast majority of NHL games would be available in HD this upcoming season (which would be way more than was available last year), hence my increased excitement for the new season coming soon. Hopefully, you will have more accurate information in the coming weeks.
Sorry for my confusing question earlier, as a clarifying question, I asked whether or not Rogers would broadcast more than 4 HD NHL Centre Ice games at one time (which was the limit last year)? For an example, I mentioned the NFL Sunday Ticket HD games where you had 9 HD games going on at once last week and wondered if you could do the same for HD NHL Centre Ice games as well?
Final question regarding NHL Centre Ice games in HD for you (I promise). In past years, Rogers has not been able (for whatever reason unknown to me) to provide HD NHL Centre Ice feeds from broacasters such as MSG (Rangers, Islanders, Devils, Sabres) and Comcast Sportsnet (Washington, San Jose, Philly Flyers, Chichago, etc.), Could you find out why we could never get HD feeds from these sources before and will this change for the new season upcoming (I am hoping so).
Thanks again for your response
Dennis
I sat on phone with customer service for quite a while Sunday morning. They first came back and said the RedZone channel its not available yet and he had checked with 2 managers and was told the same thing. He said they had no idea what is going on with it. I pushed a bit and said I was told earlier in the week it would be ready to go Sunday and to call back then, he then had an idea to look in his system under Pay Per View events and found the channel there. I don’t blame the customer service rep, he tried to find it. But, I would suggest to Rogers to maybe spend some time training your staff and managers on your products, and stop wasting the customers time. I also don’t understand why this channel isn’t included in the sports package & why is not in HD like the US.
Hi Jason,
Thanks for your feedback and sharing your experience. I’m going to reach out to you via email to learn a little bit more.
In the meantime, enjoy NFL RedZone!
Cheers,
Richard.
Hey, Can I get only the NFL Sunday ticket channel or any other NFL channel, without getting the whole package? What would the fee for the channel be? Please and Thanks!
Hi TJ,
It is possible to order the NFL Sunday Ticket and/or NFL RedZone without having the Super Sports Pak. Our Customer Care reps should be able to help you at 1-888-ROGERS1.
Richard.
Hi,
Will NFL RedZone be on free preview this weekend?
Their website says a free preview is on this Sunday, consult your local cable provider.
http://redzonetv.nfl.com/
Hey Pete,
Thanks for your question. Good news! Our free preview of RedZone will be *next* weekend, Sept 26, beginning at 1 pm ET.
Enjoy.
Richard
I’d like to echo Jason’s comments about the difficulty I had on Sunday…I sat on hold 3 separate times on Sunday morning for over 30 minutes each time (once over 50 minutes) and never got to speak to anyone about ordering Red Zone. I tried ordering through the TV didn’t work, tried calling couldn’t get through and tried to visit the website and it wouldn’t load. Also, I am an Sports Pack and HD subscriber and none of the NFL HD channels worked on Sunday. Now Jason indicates that Red Zone is not available in HD? After my experience on Sunday plus this, I am not sure if I am interested in the product anymore. I am not sure what can be done but I just wanted my experience noted. I am not a Rogers basher as normally the service offered is excellent.
Hey Mark,
Sorry to hear about your recent experience. We will reach out to you directly via email to learn more about what happened.
I can tell you that RedZone is currently available for purchase through our Customer Care reps at 1-888-ROGERS1. However, as noted above, it is not available at this time in HD but we’re currently working on offering it in HD soon. I’ll update this post above should we have something to share.
Enjoy Week #2!
Richard.
Can I just order NFL Redzone channel or do I also have to order NFL Sunday Ticket or Super Sport Pak? Thanks.
Hi Andrew.
Yes, you can order just the RedZone channel without signing up for the Super Sports Pak or NFL Sunday Ticket.
Richard.
Add me to those who can’t order RedZone. After spending an hour of back and forth I was finally told that maybe its not available in my area (Whitby, ON) yet and to try again later? I even pointed out this blog to no effect. Very frustrating.
