RedBoard video: NOC around the clock

Ever wonder what happens behind the scenes to ensure the call from your smartphone goes through? Or, who is making sure your home Internet connection remains connected to servers around the world?

As part of our RedBoard video series, I speak with Bill Anderson, a manager at our Network Operations Centre about what goes into running a NOC and how Rogers is monitoring our cable TV, wireless, home phone and Internet services around the clock to ensure your communications, information and entertainment needs are met.

  1. Now I have a face to go with my outage :)

    Thanks Miranda

  2. I always wondered how the network keeps running 24/7… I was surprised to see how many people are all dedicated to its operation!

    Thanks for the info Miranda.

  3. That video was pretty interesting to see who watches over the network. Their kinda like guardian angels for our cell phones! Great job on the video, Miranda! As a sugestion for next time, perhaps you could visit some staff lower down the corporate ladder, like TV box installers or wireless store employees. I think it would be interesting to see different “day in the life of…” episodes. (btw, if you were wondering why my comment is soooo early in the morning it’s because I’m in Europe right now!)

  4. Scary he actually likes the chaos that is created by such a big network!

  5. Funny it takes me 6 months to get through to Rogers to take a look at my area towers and then they saw were waiting for a part from cisco and I should wait some more two months
