Questions for the rogers people.
“Rogers also announced new data sharing plans that enable customers to seamlessly and easily share data from one plan across multiple devices. With these new plans, customers can take their existing plans and apply a data sharing add-on for as low as an additional $15 per month.”
I have a 6gb per month blackberry data plan. When the playbook comes out will i be able to teather off my blackberry with NO COST or do i need to pay $15 a month to “share the data”.
Thanks
Hi Clone7, typically in that scenario there would be an additional charge to share the data.
That said, the $30/6GB sharing promotion we offered earlier this summer has expired, and sharing plans are not compatible with expired limited time offers.
That said, 6GB customers like you are important to us, and we’re exploring whether we can introduce data sharing options for them again in the future.
Sorry can you plesae clarify.
i thought that the playbook was going to use your blackberry as the data source. Isnt this the same as tethering?
RIM said you can just use your playbook to your Blackberry to connect to the network.
You are saying even thought you have a blackberry and a blackberry data plan their will be an addtional charge to use your palybook on your phone?
IF so how is this differnt from tethering?
Thanks for your help.
@RogersRob. I have one question. I’ve studied the Blackberry Playbook quite a bit and other technologies). Since the Playbook requires a Blackberry smartphone to tether, would Rogers ask Blackberry to remove this tethering capability? Seeing this clearly bypasses your 6GB + sharing plans. Wifi capable Blackberrys couldn’t use this if they didn’t have a data plan. I know many features can be enabled or disabled.
@RogersRob.
I am wondering what the others are asking.
“Playbook requires a Blackberry smartphone to tether, would Rogers ask Blackberry to remove this tethering capability? ” or charge an extra Data fee (makes no sense)? if you can not asnwer this now please let us know.
Have a great day.
Brent
@rogers
How is it fair that we pay for 6gb of data (that we will never hit on our Blackberry) and then Rogers wants to charge us an extra fee to tether seeing that you need a Blackberry to use the playbook in the first place.
Cheers,
Jan
@Janet @Brent @Frank @Clone7:
Hi everyone,
Seems there’s some confusion with our tethering policy and the new shared plans. My previous comment referred to the new shared plans in general.
Since the PlayBook isn’t currently available, it’s difficult to confirm what policies will apply right now.
But for current devices that offer tethering-like functionality, customers are able to use according to the current tethering policy, which you can see here. As it stands, generally those with data plans of 1 GB and above (including 6 GB customers) are able to tether with eligible devices.
Hope that answers your questions.
Thank you for the clarification. I will be looking forward to the playbook.
Thanks RogersBob!
