Does it have USB mass storage mode?

    1. Dan

Yes, in two senses. You can connect it to a computer and the onboard memory and memory card will become accessible as mass storage devices on your PC. Additionally, you can connect mass storage devices (Flash drives mostly. An external HDD with a power supply might work too but I don’t know.) to the phone using USB on-the-go (and the included adapter) and the phone will recognize those devices and let you play media, etc. off them.

    2. Simon

Yes it does have. You can transfer like USB device from phone to phone or phone to PC without any software help.

  2. Ahmed Eltawil

Does it run Symbian? It does? I’ll pass.

    1. n900mixalot

What is the POINT of posting a comment like that? Huh? To be rude? To show off? To act like a big man because you can just post whatever you want without having to show your face? Because nobody listens to what you have to say in the real world? Because you don’t like your life?

Yes, it runs Symbian. Some people like Symbian. Some don’t. Some people like people named Ahmed. Some DON’T.

Keep rude, pointless comments to yourself. We already know that people hate on Symbian just because it isn’t one of the other mobile phone operating systems, but to run off at the mouth like that just because there is a greater chance that your comment will be read and not buried like it would on a tech blog is pathetic.

If you want to try the phone out, go into a Rogers store and see it, or check it out on Youtube.

      Don’t be an Ahmed.

      1. N Kahn

Your post proved nothing. You stooped to his level and made it personal by attacking his name? really? and after spending a minute and a half writing that comment you must feel all high and mighty that you set someone straight. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

He is allowed to express his views, positive or negative.

    2. Rogers_Richard

      Hey Ahmed,
It does run the new Symbian^3 OS.
Some of the cool things to come as part of this version: multi-touch and support for pinch-to-zoom; a faster interface thanks to a re-written graphics architecture; and more efficient memory management for better multi-tasking.
Have you seen the new OS in action? I’d love to get your thoughts.

  3. Aaron

Good to see Rogers continues to be on top of Nokia;s lineup of phones (ie. N95, N97, etc, from previous years). I would definitely like to see more high-end Android offerings from Rogers in the future, though.

  4. Justin

link to the phone on rogers.com is broken

    1. Rogers_Richard

Thanks Justin! We’re working on it right now.
Hope to have an update for you shortly.

      1. AKhan

Does it come in all 5 colours or just silver?

      2. Joe

When does Roger plan to release the other colours? My wife is all giddy to get the green or baby blue one.

If the pinch, scroll response was comparable and consistent to the iphone, that would be amazing. Other than that, fantastic product. Thanks Roger for floating options to us.

  5. George

now i have to go play with this one to!!!
last night was trying to track down a WP7 to play with…

  6. Ger

I bought an unlocked iPhone 4 when it came out, but if I didn’t have it, I’d definitely give this a try. Great pricing for a great device!

  7. Keith

Nice phone..but the hardware is lacking…..12MP..5MP…i could care less….I want CPU and RAM and expandable memory…easy to manage my personal data and apps…

    1. Rogers_Richard

      Hi Keith,

The N8 does have expandable memory (via MicroSD) up to 32GB.

And as I mentioned above, the latest version of Symbian OS has created a faster user experience and allows for multi-tasking.

If you get a chance to check it out in action, be sure to let us know your thoughts!

      1. Dan

It’s actually expandable up to 48GB, unless this is some custom modification for Rogers. It comes with 16GB internally and supports MicroSDHC cards up to 32GB. They’re hard to find, but they do exist.

Nokia recommends a minimum of Class 4 for the memory card for photography and HD video.

      2. Rogers_Richard

        Hi Dan,

Thanks for pointing that out! According to Nokia’s website, it comes with a MicroSD memory card slot, hot swappable, up to 32 GB. That added to the 16GB on-board memory brings it to 48GB.

    2. Spike

Most tend to overlook the fact that the N8 has a dedicated GPU to offload the graphics work from the CPU. Games are really smooth. Also, the thing has video codecs aplenty — high def DIVX files play like a champ (unconverted too… no need to convert first!).

  8. Stylinred

I’ve been waiting to order either the Blue or Orange N8 unit over from Europe

But the phone is way cheaper from Rogers and i don’t have to wait for those other colours to come into stock arghh should i cave and get a silver one or not :/

Will Rogers be getting any other colours?

    1. Rogers_Richard

      Hi Stylinred,

The Nokia N8 is currently available in grey only. If more device colours become available, they will be listed on the Nokia N8 product page on Rogers.com.

      1. Stylinred

Ahh i see… well hopefully the product page starts working sometime soon :/ it’s been an error page for two days now

  9. bigmixxx

Well, I REALLY wish this phone came to America. (T-mobile) I would SO buy this phone, in a heartbeat. This is probably the only phone that will compel me to replace my n900, on contract.

  10. Has anyone else tried to select the nokia n8 phone from Rogers. Whenever I select it, Rogers crashes?

    1. Rogers_Richard

      Hi F2j.com
Thanks for the comment! We’re actually working to fix this right now.

  11. Glenn

This us the phone I’ve wanted since Nokia gave us a glimpse early on the new year. I got an iPhone 4 in June (cause I had to have a new toy) and now my son will have an IPhone 4 instead.
I had an N95 for two years and have always liked Nokia’s durability and reception. But, I didn’t like how Rogers limited the file size to 600 kb for a ting tone!
Has Rogers modified anything on this phone from original Nokia programming?

    1. Nina.Popovic

      Hi Glenn,

No Rogers has not modified anything on the phone and has not preloaded any apps on the device.

      1. not impressed

what a lie!! go to 23 second in the vid, you can clearly see the icon for the god awful rogers music player and two other rogers apps. what i hate the most is that these apps cannot be deleted!!!

hey rogers, how about you dont tamper with devices and add things which CANT deleted… or no wait, im sure that would be too much to ask!

        also, fix you website…

        -not impressed

      2. Joe

Yes, I agree, its annoying to see these limiting apps when the original Nokia app was better to begin with.

Don’t be a kill joy. Let us kids have some fun.

  12. Justin

web link is still down…come on rogers, its not that hard to keep your website up and going

just think how many devices you could have sold by now if ur website wasnt down

  13. max

The tech specs are amazing but I’m holding back because of the lack of apps. Symbian ^3 is very new.

    1. Stylinred

Sym^3 is backwards compatible so all the older symbian apps work

and the included apps pretty much do everything you could possibly need anyhow; unlike those other brands Nokia/Symbian include what you need out of the box

as for “aftermarket” apps the Ovi store already has thousands and thousands of things to download (the Ovi Store has people downloading over 2.5 million times a day)

  14. Justin

Hey guys just picked up the phone, LOVE it, i have the htc magic right now and the N8 is a nice switch, will be getting the focus at the end of november when it is available to existing customers, so will be pretty sweet to have 3 OSs to play around with

  15. Glenn

The only thing my iPhone has over my N95 is the apps. Once I took a few pics with the iPhone, even the apps can’t save it from my N95!
And don’t get me started on how much I liked my N95’s photo editor over what I’ve tried with my _phone!
I can’t wait to get an N8!!… Once I can get something other than grey!

  16. pinda

  17. pinda

  18. Mike

Best phone in markets today until Nokia’s MeeGos come. No doubt ill buy this.

  19. victor

The page on rogers.com is still crashing… sort it out.

  20. rob

If I were to buy this phone with no contract from a rogers store, doesnt it come unlocked or is it locked with rogers.

    1. RogersNina

      Hi Rob,

all devices purchased at a Rogers store will be locked to the Rogers network.

      Cheers, Nina

      1. Dave

Will this work on Fido or Chatr network?

  21. Does the Nokia N8, 3year contract require a data plan?

    1. RogersNina

      Hi F2j,

To take advantage of the subsidized 3-year contract price, you will need a data plan.

      1. Are you able to tell me the price for the nokia n8 with the voice plan only? or do I need to privately speak to a representative?

      2. RogersNina

F2j – Yes, I would recommend you discuss this with one of our phone or in-store. They will be happy to assist you and will be able to correctly advise after verifying your account details.

  22. Stylinred

is the Rogers N8 page ever going be published??? the latest Rogers HD Mobiles page is even up and running with the N8 listed… (i’d rather order the phone online)

  23. Andy

What would be the minimum voice+data plan required for the 3-year contract price for folks like me who are bad at negotiating a retention plan?

It’s been a week since launch, and the link on rogers.com is still not working?

    1. zamir

i think its 25 dollars for the non blackberry data plan

and rogers website now has it up and running for the nokia n8 :)

  24. Dave

Can someone answer this question: Will this Nokia N8 work on the Rogers Sub-brand of Fido or Chatr which runs on the same Rogers Network? Thanks.

    1. RogersNina

      Hi Dave,

No, the phone is locked to Rogers.

  25. pinda

please any body tell me when launch roger n8 other colour we need dark grey but store have only silver please help me

  26. RogersNina

    Hi all,

A number of you have been asking about the direct web page for the N8 on Rogers.com. I just wanted to let you know it’s live and more information on the device, as well as online ordering, can be found here at http://www.rogers.com/nokian8.

  27. Johnie

When other color will be available for the nokia n8 .

    1. RogersNina

      Hi Johnie,
As noted above, Rogers currently has the silver N8 available. Should more colours be released, this information will be updated on Rogers.com.

  28. Panda

So, I renewed my 3-yr rogers contract, i have to add a data plan in order to get the nokia n8 for 79.99?

    1. RogersNina

      Hi Panda,

as mentioned above, to take advantage of the subsidized 3-year contract price, you will need a data plan.

  29. Johnie

Ok , thank you Nina but i need to know when other color will be available :P .

    1. Josh

Hey, I’m in BC and I want to feel the phone in action before buying. Any ideas where I might find a store with real phones on display?

  30. Norm

Will the FM radio be enabled? How about the transmitter? I’d really like to use this phone in my car to play music over the stereo.

    1. RogersNina

      Hi Norm,

Please note that FM Radio is supported on the Nokia N8.

  31. svehu

I would buy one if I get solid answers to the following:
My N95 bought Aug’08 still reports V11 as the latest firmware while Nokia has released several important upgrades improving stability, usefulness, web browsing and power usage just to name a few. Before buying the N8 I like to make sure Rogers will without delay push new updates to all customers as that is what todays market place demands to be competitive and allow safe use of apps for the life of the phone. I have spent hours talking to Rogers (in store, corporate, tech support), but no-one can answer that this will be so and refer me to Nokia. No one at Nokia Siemens Networks in Missisagua have yet to answer other than to refer to Rogers! This is most disappointing. Can you imagine your Windows system without upgrades? To remain competitive, the N8 will need updates and Nokia have already announced the first. It also pains me as a Nokia shareholder to see such lack of understanding of their market and I would like them to succeed – force all resellers to support their products like other companies do. Are the Rogers apps and blocking of Skype also features of the I4? I do not want to experience the same poor service with the N8 as Rogers customers have had with the N95 (8GB) – we deserve better!
